This Privacy Policy explains how Generique, LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company doing business as PressLux (“PressLux,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit our website or use our service (collectively, the “Service”). It applies to information about you (the user) and to information you submit through the Service about your company, announcements, attachments, and the journalists you choose to pitch.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information. Name, email address, hashed password, and (optionally) referral code. If you change your email, we also collect the new email pending verification.
- Campaign content. The briefs you fill in, the press releases drafted, revised, optimized, or uploaded, attachments (PDF, DOCX, TXT, images), outlets you keep, journalists you add to your pitch list, edits to pitch emails, and notes you record per journalist.
- Distribution payloads. The content and metadata you submit for wire distribution, including company details, contact information you choose to include in the release, scheduled embargo time, and selected plan / add-ons.
- Support submissions. Any message you send via the in-product support form or by email.
- Billing information.Purchases are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full payment-card number. We retain Stripe-issued identifiers (customer ID, charge ID, refund ID), the products and prices you purchased, and credit-ledger entries (deductions, refunds, referral rewards). Charges may appear on your statement as “Generique” or a similar variant of the legal entity name.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and log data. IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring and exit pages, time-stamped request logs, and error traces. We use this for security, debugging, and product improvement.
- Session cookies. A single first-party session cookie is set after you sign in so the dashboard can keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Analytics. If Google Analytics 4 is enabled for the property, aggregated and pseudonymized page-view data is collected. We do not pass personally identifying account fields to Google Analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- Generate AI Output you request — drafts, revisions, optimizations, outlet research, journalist research, and pitch emails — by sending the relevant brief or release content to our AI provider on your behalf.
- Route wire-distribution payloads to the selected third-party wire provider and relay status and pickup-link updates back to your dashboard.
- Send transactional email (account verification, password reset, email-change confirmations, support replies, distribution status, and similar service notices).
- Process payments and maintain a credit ledger.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful government requests, and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your campaign content or attachments to train our own AI models, and we configure our AI provider to do the same (see Section 3).
3. AI Processing of Your Content
When you use an AI-assisted feature, we send the relevant content (your brief, the approved release, an outlet name, etc.) to our AI provider, Anthropic (anthropic.com), for processing through the Claude API.
We use Anthropic’s API under terms that, as of the effective date of this policy, provide that Anthropic does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models and retains content only for the limited time necessary to operate the API and meet legal or safety obligations. Anthropic’s current policies are the authoritative source and may change; please review them directly.
AI Output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or fabricated. We disclaim accuracy in our Terms of Service, Section 6.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We share information with third-party providers strictly to operate the Service. Each has its own privacy policy governing how it handles the data we pass it. The categories of providers we use and what they process:
- AI provider (Anthropic) — receives brief content, release drafts, outlet names, and journalist context to generate AI Output. See Section 3 above for details.
- Payment processor (Stripe) — processes payments and stores payment-card information. We never receive your full card number. See stripe.com/privacy.
- Wire distribution provider — receives release content, contact information, and selected distribution parameters when you submit for wire. The wire provider may further distribute the release to syndication networks, aggregators, search engines, and AI-answer services according to its own policies.
- Transactional email provider — sends verification, password-reset, and similar service email from a PressLux-controlled domain.
- Object storage provider — hosts brief attachments you upload and distribution report PDFs returned by the wire provider.
- Error monitoring provider — receives server-side error traces. Traces may incidentally include identifiers (such as a campaign ID or user ID) but not payment data or message bodies by default.
- Web analytics provider — receives aggregated, pseudonymized page-view data when enabled.
- Cloud hosting platform — processes all traffic, logs, and database content as our infrastructure provider.
A current list of the specific vendors filling each category is available on request from privacy@presslux.com. We may add or change providers as the Service evolves.
5. Journalist Information Surfaced by the Service
The Service surfaces information about journalists (name, employer, beat, recently-published article URLs, and where available, a business email address) derived from public sources via AI-assisted research. We surface this information only inside your authenticated dashboard, only for the campaign in which it was researched, and only to enable you to send an individually-considered pitch about your specific announcement.
We do not sell journalist contact lists. We do not enrich journalist records with information from purchased data brokers. We do not aggregate journalist contact information into a public database.
If you are a journalist and would like your information removed from future research surfaced through the Service, please email privacy@presslux.com from the email address you would like suppressed.
6. Data Retention
We retain the categories above for the following periods:
- Account information — for as long as your account is active. If you soft-delete your account from the dashboard, your data is retained for 30 days to allow undelete, then queued for permanent deletion, subject to legal retention obligations described below.
- Campaign content (briefs, drafts, attachments, journalist lists, notes) — for as long as the campaign exists. Soft-deleted campaigns are permanently deleted on the same schedule as account deletion.
- Distribution payloads — retained alongside the campaign and for a longer audit period of at least 12 months to support dispute resolution and reconciliation with the Wire Provider.
- Billing and credit-ledger records — retained for the period required by applicable tax, accounting, and audit law, typically at least 7 years in the United States.
- Logs and error traces — typically retained for 30 to 90 days depending on the system.
We may retain data longer where required to comply with a legal obligation, to resolve disputes, to investigate or prevent fraud or abuse, or to enforce our agreements.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
- Deletion — request that we delete your personal information. You can soft-delete your account from the dashboard at any time. For permanent deletion in advance of the standard schedule, contact us as described below.
- Portability — request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Opt-out of certain processing — for example, restricting analytics. We do not sell personal information, so a do-not-sell opt-out is not applicable.
- Withdraw consent — where we process information based on your consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email us at privacy@presslux.com from the email address associated with your account. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (typically within 30 days for GDPR/UK requests and 45 days for CCPA/CPRA requests).
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include TLS in transit, encryption at rest for credentials and OAuth tokens (where applicable), role-based access to production systems, and application-level audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, email support@presslux.com immediately.
9. International Data Transfers
PressLux is operated from the United States and our infrastructure providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions whose data-protection laws may differ from those of your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers out of the European Economic Area) for these transfers.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, please email privacy@presslux.com and we will take steps to delete it.
11. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use a single first-party session cookie to keep you signed in. We may use a small number of additional first-party cookies to remember non-essential preferences (such as dismissing a banner). We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If Google Analytics 4 is enabled for the property, Google sets its own first-party cookies to support analytics.
Most browsers let you refuse cookies; doing so may prevent you from signing in to the dashboard.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you via email or by posting a notice in the dashboard at least seven (7) days before the changes take effect. The “Effective date” above always reflects the date of the latest version.
